Hello and welcome to the Bookishcore blog! My name is . . . actually, that doesn’t matter. In a community of readers, it doesn’t matter who I am, so you can call me Just another reader, because that’s what I am. In this blog, we are going to discuss all things books through many different posts such as TBRs, wrap-ups, hauls, reviews, recommendations, and any other fun ideas I can come up with, with posts being uploaded on Mondays and Fridays. I know many people post reviews for every book they read, but as of right now, I only plan to do one or two in-depth reviews a month and then an end of the month wrap up, with quick thoughts on the books I read that month. The reason for not doing a review on every book I read is because not every book is one that requires a long review with deep thoughts. Sometimes I just have middle of the road feelings for a book and it doesn’t give me much to reflect on, so I don’t want to post reviews for them if they will be short with practically no content. If you all want, I can post a review for every book instead of a TBR and wrap-up, but as of right now, there are no plans to do so.

Every reader has a reading journey, so let me take you on mine. We go back to when I was five or six years old, as I finished what would be a favorite childhood book. That was my first reading memory and I have been reading ever since, so quite a while now. There have been times when I read more and there have been times I haven’t read as much. Covid really got me back into reading after not reading much for two years. It is because of my love of reading that I wanted to start this blog. I love talking about books and watching book videos online, so I wanted to try and give book blogging a chance. There is something about a good book that can really change you. Reading to me is a magical form of escapism that allows me to experience a multitude of lives while living only one, as I imagine a lot of you agree with. I love getting to experience new adventures and meet new characters all from one spot.
Let me paint you a picture; you’re walking up a cobblestone path, bright wildflowers growing in the cracks between the stones and the space between the path and grass. The wind whistles gently around you and the flowers brush at your ankles. You follow the path to a small white cottage with a yellow thatched roof and a sturdy wood door. You take an iron key out of your pocket, maybe it’s a pocket to a flowing white dress or pressed brown slacks. You turn the key in the door and walk in. The walls are painted a soft cream color, the floors a dark hardwood. You move to the kitchen, painted a buttery yellow color, and set a kettle on the old stove and light a flame beneath. You wait for the whistle to ring and grab your favorite mug from the cupboard. The hot water is poured into the mug and a tea bag is placed in, followed by a splash of milk and a spoonful, okay, maybe two spoonfuls, of sugar. You take your tea into the sitting room and curl up on one of the chairs, the one by the large window and beside the tall, white bookshelf. Light filters in through the window and lights up the whole room. You pull one of the throw blankets from behind you over yourself and reach for the worn paperback that lies on the small table before you. You sit that way for hours and nurse your tea until it runs cold and the last page has been turned.
This is what I want you to think of when you hear the word Bookishcore. Like you’re stepping into a cozy fantasy and living in a small cottage on the outskirts of town where you can read your days away. So in the spirit of bookishcore, grab a blanket, a hot drink, and your book. I hope you enjoy your stay.
xoxo,
Just another reader
