**Another month, another TBR. I browse the shelves to figure out what I want to read. I have been in a bit of a reading slump, so I kind of just want to read whatever, or maybe something that I am pretty sure I’ll enjoy. I look at my unread books and pull of the a few from my favorite authors and ones that look good. That should be pretty good.**
Welcome or welcome back to bookishcore. If you read my June TBR and June wrap-up, you will see that I actually kind of stuck to my TBR. I read three out of five of the books I wanted to read, and that’s pretty good for someone who has never made a monthly TBR before. Now if you want to look at my July TBR compared to my upcoming July wrap-up . . . that’s a different story. I read one whole book from my TBR, so my August TBR is also going to go as my “July TBR re-do.” So let’s get into the books.

First up, I want to read The Ballad of Darcy and Russell by Morgan Matson. I love Morgan Matson, and her books are such feel good ones for me (even the sad ones). I have been so excited about this one, but just haven’t gotten to it yet, so I’m hoping that August is the month I read it. When I get in a slump, or just feel like I am not loving the books I’m reading, I gravitate towards and read the ones that I don’t think I’ll like as much. I think it’s because I want to save the better ones for when I can really love it, but maybe I just need to finally read this one. It’s about a girl who believes in true love and love and first sight, and she gets stranded at a bus station on her way back from a festival, only to meet a boy that she thinks is the one.
Next up we have Storm by Brigid Kemmerer. I just got this book this month so i am very excited about it. I have been wanting to read Forging Silver Into Stars, but I might wait until the fall for that one, since it reminds me of autumn. The Elementals series, starting with Storm, follows a group of brothers with the powers of the elements. This is Brigid Kemmerer’s first series, so I am very excited to see how it is. I have loved all of her books, so I’m sure it will be great.
My next pick is Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I have been making my way through the Lux series this year, and this is the final book. I actually just read the novella recently, so I can’t wait to move on and see how this series ends. I feel like I have been in this world and with these characters for such a long time, I’m sad to be leaving them. This series follows aliens and is such an entertaining read.
Next up is a book coming out tomorrow, but it’s The Grandest Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. This is the latest installment in the world of the Inheritance Games. This series follows Avery, a girl who inherits 40 billion dollars from a man she’s never met. This next book is one that expands the universe, so I’m intrigued to see what happens. I’ve had this one preordered for a few months now, so I’m excited to get it in the mail and read it.
Finally, we have The Rosewood Hunt by Mackenzie Reed. This was another book on my July TBR that I didn’t get to. It kind of reminds me of The Inheritance Games, with a girl inheriting money and lots of riddles, so I have been wanting to read it. We’ll see if I can get to it in August. If not, then I’ll probably save it for October since it seems like a great book for fall.
Those are all of the books I am thinking about reading in August. Take this with grain of salt because I am not always great at sticking to these TBRs and I want to pick up what I’m in the mood for in the moment. Let me know the books that you are hoping to read next month.
Thanks for reading!
xoxo,
Just another reader
