**I sit and write in my daily journal when I hear a knock at my door. Uncertain as to who it is, I leave my quill beside my bundle of parchment and answer the door, a shade of dark mahogany, and find the postman with a parcel in his arms. I take the parcel and a few letters from him and wish him a good rest of his day. I don’t know what is in the parcel, so I stop by the kitchen and grab the shears to open it. I gasp. It’s the book I ordered from the shops months ago. Time to add it to my shelves.**

Welcome or welcome back to bookishcore. I placed a preorder for The Grandest Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes all the way back in January, and it finally released July 30. My copy actually came in the mail the day or two after, so it was pretty quick. I love the world of The Inheritance Games that the author has crafted, with all of its twists and turns, and can’t wait to get into the latest installment.

If you haven’t heard of this series, The Inheritance Games follows our main character Avery Kylie Grambs, a girl who learns that she inherited over 40 billion dollars from a man she’s never met. The stipulations to getting the inheritance however include living with the family he just disinherited, which involves living in the house for one year with his four grandsons. With the help of the Hawthorne brothers, Avery is engaged in a game of mysteries and riddles to find out why she was the one to get the inheritance. This was originally a trilogy, but more books are being added which extends the story in the universe, creating the new Grandest Game series, starting with this one.

This story has mysteries, riddles, an engaging story, and characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. I started reading this series in 2021 and can’t wait to continue with the series and everything else that the author writes. If you haven’t read anything by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, I highly recommend checking out this series and The Naturals, a series following teens in an FBI program.

I hope to get to this book soon, and if I stick to my August TBR, I should in the next few weeks. Comment down below if you have read this series or anything else by the author. I’m hoping to get to more of her books in the future, starting with this one.

Let the Games Begin 🏁
