**I look through my shelves for my recent reads and, hmm. I really did not read a lot this month. I take a look through my shelves and grab my few books off that I read. Hopefully, my stack will be larger in September. In the meantime, I sip my tea and eat some of my freshly baked biscotti.**

Welcome or welcome back to bookishcore! I debated skipping the wrap-up this month since I ended up only reading two books for the month of August, but I wanted to be consistent with it so here we are. Enjoy!

Wrap-Up

The first book I finished this month was The Horse and His Boy by C.S.Lewis. This is the third book in the Narnia series in the recommended order. It follows a young boy named Shasta who leaves home with a talking horse who wants to make his way to Narnia. This was my least favorite in the four books I have read in this series thus far. I just didn’t find it overly entertaining and it didn’t have that same magic feel. The story felt a bit slow as well. It was still an okay read, but it wasn’t my favorite.

The second and final book I read in August was The Ballad of Darcy and Russell by Morgan Matson. I love Morgan Matson’s books and have been reading them for years now. This was a story following a girl named Darcy who gets stranded at a bus station and meets a boy named Russell. They have an adventure and, over the course of a day, get to know each other and learn more about themselves. I really liked some of the conversations in this book, like how Darcy mentions how life always seems like a set path but it can be changed and you can deviate from the norm or change your mind later on. I thought this one was good, but not my favorite by her. I definitely enjoy her whole summer books over the day/weekend ones. It makes it feel as though there is too much being crammed into a short period of time.

While this wasn’t the most exciting reading month, I did read two books which is still good. I can’t wait to get into September and hopefully make my way through a few more books. Let me know of any books that you read in August. Wishing you all a great September reading month.

xoxo,

Just another reader
