**I brush the dirt from my hands and carry my bundle of wildflowers into the house. I take a glance at the time and do a double-take. I was supposed to meet Betty almost a half hour ago. I fill a vase and put my wildflowers, a rainbow of blues, purples, and pinks, in the water. I grab my cardigan and race out the door and close it behind me. Time to race to Betty’s cottage and talk to her about our September reads.**

Welcome or welcome back to bookishcore! Apologies for missing the posting day yesterday. I was busy and by the time I remembered, it was very late. So, we are getting to my wrap-up today. Let’s get into the books I read in September

September was a rough reading month for me. I have been in the middle of Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout since maybe the end of August, but decided to put it on hold since I wasn’t reading it quick enough. Then I read 30 pages of another book but put it down. I finally ended up reading The Dare by Natasha Preston. I did a review on this book, so I recommend checking that out for all of my non-spoiler thoughts. This follows a group of friends who compete in dares that are given during the end of their senior year. They are dared to drive in the dark on a dangerous stretch of road and, well, we know how that works out. I found this slow at first, but once we got farther in, I started to really enjoy it.

This was another slow reading month for me just like August, so I only read one other book. I ended up reading Click’d by Tamara Ireland Stone. I have read several books by this author including Every Last Word (one of my favorite books) and her Time Between Us duology. I liked all of her books, so I wanted to try another one. Click’d is actually a middle grade duology following a seventh grade girl named Allie who develops an app to help people find friends based on common interests. I wasn’t sure how I felt about it at first, but by the end I thought it was a solid middle grade with great lessons about perseverance. I enjoyed watching Allie code her app and try to figure out the bugs it had. It was also fun to watch as everyone tries out her game and how they react to it.

The past two months have been very slow reading months for me, but I hope to read more in October. There are so many books I am looking forward to for the month. My biggest priorities right now are finishing Opposition and reading The Rosewood Hunt (mostly because I keep saying I’ll read it), and Mina and the Undead. I’m looking forward to all the spooky, October reads. Let me know about any books that you read in September and your biggest priorities for October.

xoxo,
