**I fold the laundry that sat piled in the basket and think about some authors I have read many books from. I place the blanket on the back of the sofa and tie my hair back as I put the clothes away once I finish folding, stacking a pile high in my arms. I think of all these authors and consider ones I have read multiple books from.**
I did a Morgan Matson reading guide in September, so I decided to do another one for Natasha Preston. Natasha Preston writes both adult romances and young adult thrillers. While I have never read her romances, I have read all of her thrillers. To keep this short, I will only do a very short summary.

The Cellar: The main character gets kidnapped along with multiple other girls.
Awake: Our protagonist doesn’t remember anything before the age of four, but an accident causes her to remember.
The Cabin: A girl goes to a cabin with her friends and wakes up to find two of them dead, so she investigates to find out what happened.
You Will Be Mine: It’s Valentine’s Day and the main character and her friends are celebrating, but they start to get threatening notes and one doesn’t come back home.
The Lost: Teens are going missing in this small town, and the main character and her friend get taken to a place where they have to survive dangerous rooms.
The Twin: Ivy’s mother recently died and her twin is coming back to live with her, but something may be up with her.
The Lake: Esme and her friend Kayla are back at the summer camp they went to as kids, now as counselors, where they committed a crime they never told anyone about. Now, their secrets start to come to light.
The Fear: A social media trend goes around in a small town where teens post their biggest fear, but they end up dying in that way, so the main character has to figure out what is happening.
The Island: Social media influencers are invited to this island before the amusement park opens, but weird things start to happen.
The Haunting: Penny’s ex’s dad was convicted of killing teens, and now, around Halloween a year later, a string of murders that looks similar is happening.
The Dare: Senior pranks escalate in this Natasha Preston novel where the main character and her friends are dared to drive a dangerous stretch of road at night with no lights, which of course can’t turn out well.

- #11 – Awake
- My Thoughts: I did not like this book and actually rated it a 2 stars. I did not like where this book went and couldn’t get into it. I can’t really say much without the possibility of spoilers, so I’ll leave it at that.
- #10 – The Cellar
- My Thoughts: I read this before I read thrillers, but this was another I didn’t like. I think it was partly from never reading thrillers, partly because it was a bit on the darker side, and partly me just not liking it.
- #9 – The Twin
- My Thoughts: I’m sorry, but this made no sense. There wasn’t really a mystery and the main character got suspicious of her sister so early on. Just because she’s standing in your room doesn’t mean she’s up to something.
- #8 – The Cabin
- My Thoughts: I liked this one. I don’t think it was the best, but I liked it better. The mystery was interesting and I didn’t know who the killer was going to be.
- #7 – The Island
- My Thoughts: I can understand why people don’t like when social media is mentioned in books. I don’t think I really liked the influencer part of this book, but I do think it was fun. I think this may have been one of the ones where it took a bit to get into the story though.
- #6 – The Dare
- My Thoughts: I just read this one a few months ago but I did enjoy it. I feel like it wasn’t that thrilling in the beginning though. The idea was kind of interesting, maybe not my thing, but I will read all of Natasha Preston’s books. I didn’t really feel that suspense aspect until the very end of the book, and the mc’s friends all annoyed me. They all worry about her talking, but not the other girl?
- #5 – The Haunting
- My Thoughts: A great idea for a book. I think the Halloween setting was great and I liked watching the mc do Halloween activities with her friends. It was also interesting to watch as she sees the mask all over town, the one the original killer wore. The ending was pretty good from what I remember as well.
- #4 – The Fear
- This was was really good. An interesting idea with a great small town setting during a snowstorm. The last two pages really got me.
- #3 – You Will Be Mine
- Getting down to my top three, we start with this one. I really liked the Valentine’s Day aspect and feel like I need more books with that, thriller or contemporary. It’s been a few years since I read this, but I really liked it. It was suspenseful, gory, and entertaining.
- #2 – The Lost
- This was my favorite, until my current #1 beat it out a few months later. This was such a unique idea, with different torture rooms with two contrasts, such as extreme light then extreme dark. This was actually my second Natasha Preston, which I read several years after my first, and this is the one that got me into her books.
- #1 – The Lake
- Ending off on my favorite, we have The Lake. This, for me, was her most thrilling book. I absolutely loved the summer camp setting and all the spooky things that were happening. It made for a very thrilling, suspenseful read.

If you have not read any Natasha Preston books, I recommend starting with either The Lost or You Will Be Mine. The Lost is her highest rated ya thriller on Goodreads and objectively one of her better books. It’s entertaining and one of my personal favorites. I would also recommend You Will Be Mine because I found this to be one of her more entertaining reads and one of her more gory ones. As a fan of Natasha Preston, I think these are the two that more people would enjoy.

I have been reading Natasha Preston’s thrillers for several years now and highly recommend her books. Look, the writing may not be the best, so go into these only if you’re looking for an entertaining thriller. Let me know if you have read any of her books and your thoughts.
