**I mix the chocolate in the hot water and tap my spoon on the edge of my mug, before placing my spoon to the side. I drop in some mini marshmallows and add some whipped cream on top, followed by a swirl of caramel. I take my hot drink and my book to my sitting area and curl up with my blanket. I take small sips as I wait impatiently for my drink to cool and think about my November reads.**

I can’t believe we are already on my November wrap-up. The months have been flying by and it’s hard to believe that there will only be one more wrap-up for the year. For the month of November, I read 3 books and had one DNF (did not finish). Three of these four books were on my November TBR, so I did a pretty good job of following it. Now, let’s get into what I read.

The Books

  • The first book I picked up this month was The Bad Ones by Melissa Albert. I loved her book Our Crooked Hearts so I was really anticipating this one. It is about four people disappearing on the same night in this one town, the main character’s best friend being one of them. Nora, our main character, tries to investigate her friends disappearance and believes it is connected to an old childhood game that her and Becca played. Unfortunately, this was the DNF I had this month. I could not get into this book and was just bored throughout the whole thing. I also just was not enjoying what I was reading. I made it around 210 pages into this out of around 380 before I knew I had to give up.

  • The next book I picked up was Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I started this book back in August and after months of slowly reading it, finally finished it. I think I read too many of the books close together and wasn’t in the mood, but I finally finished this ya alien sci-fi series. I really enjoyed my time with not only this book, but the entire series. It is cheesy but so fun. The stakes get higher in this one and Kat and Daemon have to get help from unexpected allies to defeat their enemies.

  • After finishing Opposition, I decided to read Funny Story by Emily Henry. I have read all of Emily Henry’s adult books at this point and have been enjoying them. This book follows Daphne, a woman who was just broken up with by her fiance who dumps her for his lifelong best friend. This leads Daphne to move in with her ex’s new girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend. Something I love about Emily Henry is how a lot of her characters have bookish careers. In this one, Daphne is a children’s librarian in a public library. I loved watching her prepare for the readathon and liked getting to see snippets of her work life. I also really liked Miles, Daphne’s new roommate. I liked the chemistry and some of the more humorous moments between the two. I actually really enjoyed this one and now I can’t figure out where it ranks on the Emily Henry list.

  • Finally, I read Wild Bond by Laurie Ford. This is an indie published dragon fantasy novel where our main character Rin, a thief imprisoned for a crime she didn’t commit, bonds with a dragon and becomes a dragon rider. I thought that this was an interesting story and liked to learn about the magic system surrounding the dragons. In this story, people bond when they are younger and their dragons can shrink down so they can stay with their bonded. The romance was a bit insta-lovey, but overall was fine. I would say this book was fine but I did enjoy it.

That wraps up all the books I read in November. I hope you all had a good reading month and enjoy your reads in December.
