**I take every book off my shelves that I have read this year. My dear friend Betty asked me questions about the books I have read this year and I want to write her and answer all of her questions. I have every book on the hard-wood floor and stare at each individually. I look at the questions Betty wrote out in her looping cursive and pick a book for each as I begin to write her back.**
If there is something I love in December . . . well there are a lot of things, but one of the things that I love is the end of year book content, specifically the end of year book tag. I love watching people’s videos answering the questions from their reading year, so it is very exciting to be able to do it myself this year and share it with everyone else. I hope you enjoy! And please share any of your own answers in the comments below. I found all of these questions from looking through different posts and these seem to be some of the ones that everyone normally does in previous years.
Best Books
Stay tuned for my Top 10 Books of 2024 post coming in January 😉
New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want to
The Grandest Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. This came out in July I believe and I haven’t gotten to it yet. This expands the Inheritance Games series and follows a new story and cast of characters. I really like the series and would love to get to it.
Biggest Disappointments
Unfortunately, I have a few. Both Promchanted and The Ballad of Darcy & Russell by Morgan Matson. As a fan of her books, I was pretty disappointed by these two. They just didn’t do it for me and didn’t have their normal charm. We also have The Bad Ones by Melissa Albert. This was a DNF from me. I just couldn’t get into this one.
Biggest Surprises
Fourth Wing and Iron Flame were not books I expected to like as much as I did. They were action packed dragon fantasies and really fun to read. Spells For Lost Things by Jenna Evans Welch and Funny Story by Emily Henry are also ones I wasn’t expecting much from but enjoyed.
New Favorite Authors
I don’t think I really have a new favorite author this year. A lot of the books I read were from authors I have previously read from or just not ones I would consider a new favorite.
Newest Favorite Characters
I really liked Xaden and Violet from Fourth Wing. While not absolute favorites, I did enjoy reading about Miles and Daphne from Funny Story as well.
Books That Made You Cry
I can’t remember really, but I kind of think Destroy the Day by Brigid Kemmerer may have made me upset in a scene. I also think the ends of Fourth Wing and/or Iron Flame made me tear up a bit.
Books That Made You Happy
My current read is Forging Silver Into Stars by Brigid Kemmerer and there are a few scenes where we see characters from the original series that make me happy.
Most Beautiful Book I’ve Gotten
There are a few. I really like the cover for Where the Dark Stands Still by A.B. Poranek. I actually didn’t like this cover originally. but it really grew on me. I also like the covers for Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent, and while not beautiful, The Bad Ones by Melissa Albert. It has a very cool cover.
Books to Finish Before the End of the Year
My current book, Forging Silver Into Stars. The second book comes out in January and I’ve had this one pretty much since it came out. That is my main priority for the end of the year.
I would love to hear your answers for any of these questions. Or, if you have other questions you would like me to answer, I would love to hear them. I hope you all have a great day, and I’ll see you Monday.
xoxo,
Just another reader
