**The beginning of the year is a great time for reading. We can set new goals and have a fresh start. There are so many books we can read and new favorites to be found. I dig through my shelves and look for books to read this year. I have a few I want to get to that I set aside but keep looking at a few more. Well, we have a whole year to read them. I better get started.**

As I’ve said before, I love the beginning/end of year book content, and I recently found a new-to-me tag that I don’t remember seeing before. While I was scrolling though videos trying to find one to watch, I came across the Beginning of the Year Book Tag. I looked at some of the questions and they looked like a lot of fun, so I thought I could make a post about it. I ended up skipping the booktube question though just since I wasn’t sure about whether or not to do it since we’re in a blog format instead. Let’s get right into the questions:

  1. How many books are you planning to read in 2025?
    • I usually put my goal at 52 books since that would be a book a week, but since I read a little less last year, I put it at 50.
  2. A book you’re likely to reread this year
    • To be honest, I don’t usually reread books. I have reread most of my Morgan Matson collection and a few other books, but I like to read new books since I haven’t experienced them yet. Plus, I’m afraid to see if my opinions have changed. But a few I would consider doing rereads for are Take Me Home Tonight by Morgan Matson since I have never reread it and I would love to fully annotate it, Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone since I love this book and haven’t read it since maybe 2018 (first read was around 2016/2017), and A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer. I love her books and this is my favorite. I love the characters, world, and story.
  3. A priority read on your 2025 TBR
    • Probably The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys. This is the oldest book on my TBR so I really need to read it.
  4. An author you won’t be reading more books from this year
    • I don’t know if there are any that I am fully writing off for this year. There are just a few that I’m giving maybe one or two more chances to. I probably won’t end up reading any more Lisa Jewell. I read Then She Was Gone which was fine, but it felt a bit slow even though the ending was interesting. I then DNF’d The Night She Disappeared. It wasn’t bad, but I didn’t feel like getting through it all just for the ending. My last chance authors are probably Krystal Wade and Riley Sager and maybe a few others.
  5. Something new you want to read
    • This is a tough one. I don’t think I really have anything specific, but I think it would be fun to find a new favorite trope this year. I also want to read something that seems unique. I don’t really have any specific answers to this one.
  6. A popular book you want to read
    • From my physical TBR, I would say Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent. I feel like her books started getting popular last year and I actually picked this one up after hearing good things.
  7. Most anticipated 2025 book release
    • Since an anticipated sequel is a separate question, I’ll pick a standalone or first book for this one. I would probably have to say Gradchanted by Morgan Matson. This is a Disney inspired book and, while I didn’t love her other one, Promchanted, I will read everything Morgan Matson writes so I am all in.
  8. A bookish goal for 2025
    • I actually have a whole bingo board for my 2025 goals which include reading some graphic novels, adult books, a book with a blue cover, and others like that. I would also love to find a new favorite book or series this year.
  9. A book that’s been on your TBR that you probably won’t ever read
    • I try to read every book on my physical TBR. The one I’m probably least likely to pick up is The House Across the Lake by Riley Sager, but I do want to try it out and his book The Last Time I Lied just because I love summer camp thrillers, but I’m apprehensive since I didn’t really enjoy Lock Every Door. But one that I really won’t ever read, though there are probably a few, is The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen. I can’t remember what made me look into this, but I have it written down as a book I would want to read and I honestly will probably never get to it.
  10. A series you want to read this year
    • The Diviners by Libba Bray. Talk about books we’ll probably never get to, I’ve wanted to read this for literal years, probably since around 2020 or 2021. I just never got around to it for some reason. I really want to try and read it this summer though and get it from the library.
  11. Your auto buy authors going into 2025
    • Morgan Matson, Brigid Kemmerer, Natasha Preston (her thrillers, not romance), Lynn Painter, and Jennifer Lynn Barnes. They’re probably my favorite authors and I’m trying to make my way through their books.
  12. A book to show adaptation you’re excited about this year
    • I am so bad at this. I actually don’t really keep up on adaptations since I usually don’t watch them.
  13. A sequel you’re anticipating
    • There are a few, but my top ones are probably Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros and Carving Shadows Into Gold by Brigid Kemmerer, both of which come out this month!
  14. Bookish things you’re leaving in 2024
    • Rating books. I actually stopped doing this halfway through 2024, but I think it helps me. I like not putting a number on each book I read.
  15. What to expect from this account
    • I make no promises, but I would really like to do more reviews and take more of my own photos, especially when doing reviews.
  16. How has your reading taste evolved from last year?
    • It hasn’t changed much from last year from what I can tell, but it has evolved over the last few years. It may not be reading taste so much as it is what I’m reading since I like to give a lot of different genres and books a chance, but I have been reading more adult books over the last few years. I have been trying out a few graphic novels over the last few years as well and want to try to read more classics. I definitely did read more adult books last year and enjoyed more of them.
  17. Something you want to say to anyone wanting to start a bookish account
    • Don’t overthink it! I did for so long, like we’re talking literal months, so don’t worry and just go for it. You can stop at any time and you make your posting schedule.

Thank you so much for joining me for this book tag. I would love to hear any of your own answers. Or let me know if you did this tag yourself. My next post should be my review for Forging Silver Into Stars by Brigid Kemmerer, so stay tuned for that.

xoxo,
