**I slide the books off the shelf and walk them to the small table near my shelves. A candle sits on the table beside a book of matches. I take a match and swiftly strike it against the box and the flame comes to life with a crackle and spark. I light the candle and watch as the wood of the match catches on the wood of the wick. I blow out the match and smoke billows from it. I look through my book stack as I listen to the crackle of the flame and smell the scent of vanilla.**
Last month, I made a deal with myself that I couldn’t pick a new TBR until I read at least three out of the five books I put on my January TBR. I am very happy to say that I succeeded in this. You will all see what books I read in my January wrap-up post which will be coming soon. Because I read some of the books from my January TBR, I can now pick my February TBR, so let’s get into the books.
- The Match by Sarah Adams
- I just got this book for Christmas as you will have seen in my Christmas book haul. Seeing as how February is the month of Valentine’s Day, I had to include a romance book on my TBR. This book is an adult romance following a woman who works with service dogs who ends up needing to find a dog for a client’s daughter. Unfortunately, the two of them get off on the wrong foot but, as the two of them get to know each other, sparks start flying. I have wanted to read this book for years now and can’t wait to finally see what I think.
- Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent
- This is the first book in a fantasy romance trilogy following a girl with magic as she fights in a war to save the people she loves. I saw some people talk about this book and it seemed like an interesting read so I wanted to try it out. It’s also an indie published book, which I try to read more of sometimes. I actually really like the cover for this book as well.
- The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis
- Kind of a spoiler for what I didn’t read in January, but this book is making its way to my February TBR. This is the sixth book in the Narnia series when going in the chronological order. This is a series I want to finish in 2025 so I hope to read this book next month.
- A Tempest of Tea by Hafsah Faizal
- For book #4, we have A Tempest of Tea by Hafsah Faizal. I think I got this book around the time it came out and it seemed really interesting. It’s a ya fantasy story about a girl who owns a teahouse, which is actually a front for an illegal bloodhouse for vampires. I think that this book seems really interesting and I think it would be a great read for February for some reason.
- These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong
- This book has been out for a few years now and I never had any interest. It wasn’t until the end of 2023 that it came on my radar and I wanted to read it. I can’t remember what it was, but this Romeo and Juliet reimagining set in 1920s Shanghai seems like a great choice for February.
I know my posting schedule has been a bit off recently, so I am hoping to get it back to normal next month. There’s just been a lot going on. Anyway, these are just some of the ideas I have for my February TBR. This might change throughout the month, but I do think these would make good February reads. Let me know your own TBR for the month and whether you have read any of these.
xoxo,
Just another reader ❤️
