**I sit on the floor with my back against the wall and read the parchment of reading goals I wrote. I cross a few out with my ink pen and look to see what else is listed and think through which books could fit. I get up and fill the vase of flowers with water as I think through my books and what I could read for each goal.**

I believe I mentioned this in a previous post, but for 2025 I decided to turn my reading goals into a bingo board. These goals are all for fun, so I did add a few extra ones that I wouldn’t have added otherwise. I thought it would be fun to take you all through my goals and list some books I could read for each.

  1. Read a classic
    • I only have one classic on my shelf, which is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I really want to read this one, but I also have
      Fahrenheit 451
, Animal Farm, Wuthering Heights, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and Rebecca as options.
  2. Graphic novel
    • I have this as two spots on my bingo board since I always try to read a few graphic novels which you will see later. For one, I am thinking about using Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Rift. I read the first two omnibus versions in this series and really enjoyed the second. If anyone has recommendations, please let me know! I don’t know of many graphic novels.
  3. Read Starfall
    • Some of my prompts are just to read certain books, so for this one I wanted to read Starfall, which I actually completed already!
  4. Read a book that starts with S
    • I think I used a random letter generator for this one, but my options from my physical TBR could be Storm by Brigid Kemmerer, Secrets So Deep by Ginny Myers Sain, or Silver in the Bone by Alexandra Bracken.
  5. 2025 Release
    • I am someone that lets my new books pile up since I don’t want to read them right away, especially if I anticipated it for a while, so I wanted to make a goal to read a 2025 release. There are so many, but I especially want to get to Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros, Carving Shadows Into Gold by Brigid Kemmerer, and Gradchanted by Morgan Matson.
  6. Read Nine Liars
    • This is the most recent book in the Truly Devious series and I haven’t read this one still even though it came out in 2022. I really wanted to get to this one this year to finally catch up.
  7. Read a blue book
    • Just to make it a bit interesting, I decided to read a blue book this year. I know Storm is blue and I think Silver in the Bone is as well, so I could use either of those books for this goal.
  8. Read an indie book
    • I have been trying to make an effort the past few years to read more indie books, even if it’s just one a year. I want to give them a try and support smaller authors. I have books three through five of the A Trial of Sorcerers series by Elise Kova and Campus Murder Club by Kristi Rose.
  9. At least 500 pages
    • I have a few longer books on my shelf that I usually push to the side for the shorter ones, so this will encourage me to actually read the longer ones. I actually don’t know which books, if any, are over 500 pages, so I will have to find one.
  10. Graphic novel
    • I actually used Teen Titans: Robin for this prompt. I did read two graphic novels in January, but I used the other one for a different prompt.
  11. Adult Book
    • I have added an adult book as a goal the past two years since I never used to read them. I do more now but I still added this goal to encourage me to read them. Some of my ideas for this include Onyx Storm, any of Lynn Painter’s adult books minus Mr.Wrong Number since I already read that, The Match by Sarah Adams, and Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry when that comes out.
  12. Middle grade book
    • I am actually in the middle of two middle grade books. I am currently reading The Silver Chair by C.S.Lewis, which I believe is counted as a middle grade, and Swap’d by Tamara Ireland Stone, the sequel to Click’d. I will probably finish The Silver Chair first, so that book will go towards this goal.
  13. Read 50 books
    • For some reason, I decided to not give myself a free space, so this is in its place. I usually make a goal to read 52 books, but I lowered it to 50 this year.
  14. Author name that starts with K
    • This is where I used my other graphic novel. I read Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven last month and used that book since the author is Kami Garcia.
  15. TBR book before 2023 (not physical)
    • There are some books I’ve wanted to read for years now but have never gotten to. For this prompt, I could use The Diviners, since I have wanted to read it for years and I don’t own it.
  16. Animal on the cover
    • I actually completed this space as well because of Betting On You by Lynn Painter. There is a cat at the bottom of the cover.
  17. Read a Brigid Kemmerer
    • Brigid Kemmerer is an all-time favorite author, so I of course had to add reading one of her books as a goal. My options are Carving Shadows Into Gold, Thicker Than Water, and Storm.
  18. Read a 2024 Release
    • There are a lot, but I actually read one already! I read The Grandest Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes last month and used that book.
  19. Read Rule of Wolves
    • This is the sequel to King of Scars and I wanted some extra motivation to read this book this year.
  20. Finish the Narnia series
    • I am reading book six and only have one more after that. I started this series in 2023 so I wanted to finish it this year.
  21. Someone picks from physical TBR
    • For this one, I would let someone just randomly pick a book from shelf and I would have to read that one. I thought it would be fun to see what book would get chosen.
  22. Read The Fountains of Silence
    • I have read almost all of Ruta Sepetys’ books. This is one of my only ones left, so I really wanted to get to it this year. I’ve also owned this book for quite a while now so I really need to get to it.
  23. TBR book before 2024 (physical)
    • For this one, I would read any book I’ve had since before 2024. There are a few options for this one including These Violent Delights and The Rosewood Hunt.
  24. Adult book
    • I added two of these so my options are the same as the other prompt.
  25. Read a book recommended to me
    • I think it would be so fun to ask someone for a book recommendation and then read that book. I also think that would make a fun blog post, where I read a few books recommended.

Out of these 25 prompts, I have already completed 5, one for each book I read in January, and I can probably make my current reads count towards some of these goals as well. My stipulation for this though was that I could only use one book per prompt. I originally was going to allow myself to use one book for two prompts, but I thought it would be more of a challenge to do one book per prompt.

Do you have any goals for 2025? What books would you read for my prompts? I would love to hear!

This is the funnest idea! 😀 I like how it’s “targeted” reading, but still really flexible to allow for mood and etc, minus the letting someone pick a book off your shelf 😉 hehe

Can’t wait to see how this plays out as the year goes on! 🙂

Thank you! I think it would be fun to mention what other ones I complete in my monthly wrap-ups from now on just to keep track of it.

I started doing reading goals in 2022 like read three graphic novels, read three adult books, read a classic, finish these series, etc., but I thought it would be fun to make it into a bingo board instead of just writing it out. It’s very satisfying to color in my little squares :).

It’s actually nice though because for a lot of them I would already be reading books that would fit, like how I used 2024 release for The Grandest Game. I was already going to read it then fit it into a prompt later.
