**I stare at the books at my feet. I just put the new shelves up, so the books had to be taken off the old ones to be placed on the new. Instead of putting the books back up, I decide to sort through my to be read books and pick out a few for the upcoming month. My stack looks good, so I leave them on the table and put the rest in their proper places, decorating as I go with little knickknacks and flowers.**
It feels like it has been a while since I have done a TBR even though the months have been flying by. I’m actually not sure what my TBR is going to be yet, so I’m going to take a glance at my shelves while I type.
- The Rosewood Hunt by Mackenzie Reed
Yes, I am putting this on my TBR once again, but I actually started it already! I was starting to think it would be one where I would never read it (looking at you The Fountains of Silence and Silver in the Bone. I’ll get there someday). Anyway, I did start this already but wanted to put it on my May TBR since I don’t think I will finish before the end of the month. This is about a girl whose grandmother dies and leaves her riddles to get an inheritance. It reminded me of The Inheritance Games which made me interested to read it. I’m not too far in, but look forward to the riddles.
- Gradchanted by Morgan Matson
I wanted to save this one a bit longer, but I really want to read it. This is a book set at Disney following a girl stuck in a time loop. I love Morgan Matson’s books and can’t wait to get to her newest release. I may try to do a review on this one since I reviewed her other Disney book, Promchanted.
- The Long Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
This is the second book in the Fixer duology following a girl who goes to an elite DC school with the kids of politicians where she fixes all their problems, just like her older sister does for their families. I did enjoy the first one, though it wasn’t my favorite by her, and I am intrigued to see where the story goes. I don’t want to wait too long between the two books, so I hope to read it in May.
- Carving Shadows Into Gold by Brigid Kemmerer
This is the sequel to Forging Silver Into Stars which is set in the world of Emberfall following three characters: a blacksmith, a baker, and the king’s courier. An uprising is brewing and these three characters are intertwined in it. I love Brigid Kemmerer’s books, as many of you probably know by now, so I am very excited to get to this book and return to one of, if not my favorite fictional worlds. I read the first book in December and can’t wait to see what this second book brings to the story.
- The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert
One of the goals on my book bingo was to have someone choose a book from my physical TBR to read, and this was the one that was chosen. This follows a girl raised on the road with her mother, but when her grandmother dies and she inherits the estate, our main character’s mother goes missing, taken by someone claiming to be from the world created by her grandmother. I have had mixed thoughts on Melissa Albert’s books, with one I loved and one I DNF’d, so I am interested to see how I feel about her debut novel.
I am very excited for May’s TBR and expect to like a lot of these reads. Wishing you all a wonderful month of reading.
xoxo,
