**It’s a rainy afternoon, and I can almost see the flowers blooming because of it. I sit by the window and watch the droplets fall down the glass. I have my recent reads piled next to me as I was flipping through their pages to get back in the story. Their pages flip one by one and I browse the words written on the pages. I flip through each one then pile them back down beside me.**
In April, I ended up reading four books. This year it seems like I average about four or five books every month. It feels like it’s been a while since I’ve done a wrap-up, even though the year is going so fast. I actually wrote about most of these books in previous posts, but still wanted to do a wrap-up, so let’s get right into the them.
- The Fixer by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
I wrote a whole review for this previously this month, so I recommend checking that out for my full thoughts, but I did enjoy this one. It follows a teen girl who starts going to a DC private school where she fixes the problems of the students, just like how her sister fixes their parents’s problems. The idea was interesting, and while it’s not my favorite by the author, it was still entertaining.
- Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde
This is another I did a review for. It follows three friends at a convention and two different love stories. I had wanted to read this for quite a while, but couldn’t get into it. The characters didn’t have much of a personality and the story was a bit dry for me. I loved getting to visualize the convention floor, but there was unfortunately not much I liked with this one.
- A Tournament of Crowns by Elise Kova
I read this book while doing my post about if weekly reading vlogs were like blog posts, and it definitely encouraged me to read. This is the third book in the A Trial of Sorcerers series, which is set in a world of elemental magic and a main character who competes in a series of trials to go in the tournament. I enjoyed this book and liked getting to see how the story continued on from book two. I do think that the main character Eira was a bit annoying at times, and that the book was a lot of the same things repeated. However, I did enjoy several scenes in this and love getting to see how the characters use their powers.
- Campus Murder Club by Kristi Rose
This was probably my favorite book of the month. It is a young adult mystery/thriller that is actually indie published, which helped me cross off another box on my bingo card. It follows a group of college students who get letters asking them to meet to solve a six month old cold case that happened at their school. The group works together to try and figure out what happened the night the girl died. I thought this was an interesting story and it was engaging pretty much the entire time. It got a bit slow in the middle, but I was still enjoying my time reading it. I do think the reveals were a bit far fetched (which I’ll leave there to avoid spoilers), but I think the story was interesting and I loved watching the characters work towards solving the case.

Those are all the books I read in April. I have a few ideas for upcoming posts, so stay tuned for those. Hope you’re all having a great day, and I’ll see you soon.
