**The birds chirp a song as I clean my little cottage. Some late spring cleaning will really brighten the place up. I clean the floors, dust the shelves, and somehow get distracted by the books that are on it and sit on the floor with piles around me as I flip through a few. With my cleaning forgotten, I read a few pages of some books to pick some of my next reads. When an hour passes, I finally get up continue my chores, starting with re-shelving the books.**
Another month, another TBR. I’m not really sure what I wanted to read in June, so I just chose a few that are calling out to me right now, though that will probably change in the next month.
The first book I want to read is my current book, which is The House Across the Lake by Riley Sager. I started this about a week ago but haven’t made much progress. It follows a woman staying in a family cabin who watches the couple across the lake. After saving the woman who’s staying in the other cabin, Casey and her become friends, but after she mysteriously vanishes, Casey needs to figure out what happened to her. I read Lock Every Door by this author a few years ago and didn’t really like it but I wanted to give him another try. I’m only about 70 pages in, but it’s not too bad so far.
The next book on my TBR for June is Run On Red by Noelle W. Ihli. This was just loaned to me by a family member so I want to give it a try. It follows two women being followed after a road rage incident leading to them running away on foot. I really don’t know much about this book, but I do want to give it a try, and something about it makes me think I’ll enjoy this one.
Next, we have An Heir of Frost by Elise Kova. I read A Tournament of Crowns earlier this year and want to continue on so I can finish the series this year. The series deals with elemental magic, trials, and revenge. I’ve been enjoying the series so far and am interested to see how it will go. It diverged from what I thought the series was going to be, so I am interested to see what happens next.
My next pick is The Long Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I really want to try and work on finishing series I am reading, and this will allow me to cross another off my list. This is the second and final book in the Fixer series which follows a girl helping the students at her school, who are all the kids of politicians and important people in D.C. I have been trying to make my way through the author’s backlist and really need to read this one before continuing on to the rest.
My last pick is A French Girl in New York by Anna Adams. I know basically nothing about this. I got this as a Christmas gift and didn’t look into it since I wanted to go in kind of blind. I know this is about a girl who wants to be an opera singer then gets picked up as a pop star, and that’s about it. I think it will be a great introduction to the summer books I can read throughout the next few months.
I’m very excited to see how many of these I will get to in June. I always have a great time choosing my next book and am interested to see what I will read next month and how many bingo spaces I can cross off.
xoxo,
Just another reader
