**I pour myself a glass of orange juice and read the paper. I skim the text and turn the pages. The sky is dark outside, promising some rain. I fold the newspaper and place it beside me and continue to sip my juice. I take a lazy walk around the house and straighten up a few things, enjoying the peace and quiet. I take my glass to the sink and rinse it out and leave it to dry. A very quiet day it is.**
My posting schedule has gotten a bit off track, but I ended up getting sick a few days ago so I didn’t really want to write anything. We’re back now and getting better. My last post was the Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag, but I wanted to go over a few other mid-year stats. At the beginning of the year, I decided to make a book goal bingo for myself. I have actually completed a decent amount of the spaces, but somehow still don’t have bingo! Anyway, here is what I have so far:

For my remaining spaces, I have a few ideas of books to read to complete them.
- Classic – Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. This is the only classic on my physical TBR and, while I have a few others on my radar, I would love to try and get to this one.
- Graphic novel – The Flash Season Zero by Andrew Kreisburg, Besties Work it Out by Kayla Miller, or Peanuts: Snoopy’s Beagle Scout Tales by Charles M. Schulz. These are all ones that I found recently that I would be really interested in reading. I’m not a big graphic novel person, but I like to try them out every so often and I have read a few I enjoyed.
- At least 500 pages – Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros or Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent. I think these are the only two on my physical TBR that would fit, but I hope to get to both by the end of the summer.
- TBR book before 2023 (not physical) – The Diviners by Libba Bray! I have wanted to read this for so long now, and I am making it my summer goal to do it.
- Read a Brigid Kemmerer – Thicker Than Water or Carving Shadows Into Gold. These are the two on my physical TBR, but I think I may get to Carving Shadows first since I want that on my July TBR, though my TBRs tend to change a lot through the month.
- Someone picks from my physical TBR – The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert. I had someone do this for one of my previous TBRs but I didn’t get to it, so I will have to see if they want to change it or if I should stick with that book.
- Recommended to me – Bridge to Terebithia by Katherine Patterson. I have a few books that I could choose, but someone in my family has been telling me to read this one so I should probably choose this book for the prompt.
Other than my book goal bingo, I also had 15 books to read in 2025. Out of those 15 I have read:
- Betting On You by Lynn Painter
- The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis
- The Grandest Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
- The Match by Sarah Adams
- Gradchanted by Morgan Matson
- A Tournament of Crowns by Elise Kova
Looking at the ones still on this list, we have:
- The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys (which is also a prompt on the bingo board)
- Nine Liars by Maureen Johnson (another bingo prompt)
- Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo (see bingo board)
- The Diviners by Libba Bray
- The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum
- Bridge to Terebithia by Katherine Patterson
- Nothing Like the Movies by Lynn Painter
- The Party by Natasha Preston
- Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros
Luckily, a lot of my 15 books will actually work for my bingo board as well. Then finally, looking at overall stats, I have read 24 books so far this year and have had 2 DNFs. I’ve actually read a lot of different books as well. I have read adult, young adult, and middle grade, I’ve read fantasy, sci-fi, thrillers, romance, graphic novels, and even a comic. I hope that over the next few months I can read a few more books and find a few that I really enjoy.
How is your reading year so far? Are you reaching your goals and reading good books?
xoxo,
