**Today is a crafting day. I went to the craft store in towne and picked up a few materials for some art projects that I may be interested in pursuing. I decide to make some book themed projects and lay my materials out before me on the kitchen table. It is much to hot to stay outside, so I keep refuge in the cottage to get out of the sun. I make my crafts, taking several hours to do so, and display them on my bookshelves once finished.**
About two weeks ago, my mom sent me this video of someone making a bookmark using pressed flowers and a laminator. It looked pretty cool, but I didn’t think anything else of it until a few days later when I decided to make my own. I had no flowers but I did have a different idea to use pictures from Pinterest and make a bookmark with those (so all credit for the photos used in my bookmark goes to the artists and people posting them).
The first thing I did was choose a theme and search for photos that fit. I decided to make a bookmark for one of my favorite books, A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer. I found a few pictures and took screenshots and put them on a Google Doc, which I then printed out.

My next step was cutting out all of my pictures and cutting out a piece of paper the size of a bookmark. I used one of my bookmarks and just cut around it to keep the size the same.

Once I had everything cut out, I organized the pictures how I wanted them on the paper. Once everything was where I wanted it, I glued everything on the paper and made sure nothing was hanging over the edge.

Once everything was glued, I put it in the laminate paper, cut it to size, and ran it through, cutting away any excess laminate I didn’t want after.

Voila! I’m actually pretty happy with how it turned out. I do wish I didn’t cut the map smaller and put it in two different places. I thought that would look better (and I may have needed to fill some gaps), but I do think that the rest of it turned out pretty well. I ended up making another bookmark the day after I made this one. I highly recommend making one. It was fun to make, and now you have a hand-made bookmark that is personalized to you and your interests!
