**I take down the hanging plant from outside my cottage and use my watering can to give it a nice drink. I continue to water the flowers and plant a few more in pots before wiping my dirty gloves together to get everything off of them. I take the gloves off and leave them outside before walking back in for a glass of lemonade I made this morning. I take a long sip and look out at the flowers I planted blowing gently in the breeze.**
I have a lot of books I want to get to in August so it was kind of hard to narrow it down. Some are for post ideas I want to put up, others have been on my TBR for a while, and some are just because I want to squeeze out some more summer books before September. I am very excited about many of these books and can’t wait to read them.

- The Diviners by Libba Bray
I have wanted to read this book for so many years now. We’re talking 2020/2021. I think the main reason I haven’t is because I don’t have the book and I’m usually focused on working through my physical TBR. This will be summer I finally get to it. I don’t know much about this one other than the fact that it’s a thriller set in the 1920s and has something to do with supernatural elements. It seems like something I would really enjoy, so I am determined to get through this book in August, and if not then by the end of the year,
- Besties: Work it Out by Kayla Miller
This is a graphic novel that I found pretty recently. I can’t even remember how I came across this, but it seems like a great story. It’s a middle grade story that follows two girls who dogsit for someone then have to work odd jobs to pay for the damage. I usually don’t read graphic novels or comics but I have a few on my radar.
- Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson
I never had this book on my radar but someone has been telling me to read it for probably a year now, so we are planning on reading it together in August, so I definitely know I will get to this one. I honestly have no idea what it’s about other than two kids and some theme of running. I think I want to go into this one blind.
- The Five Wishes of Mr. Murray McBride by Joe Siple
This is very different from my normal reads, but it was another recommendation and I’ve had the book for a while now so I think it’s time. This follows an old man who is looking for a reason to live and finds it in a little boy with a heart defect. The two of them work together to fulfill some things that they want to do in their life. I heard this was a pretty sad one which is the main reason I’ve pushed it off, but I need to just sit and finally read it.
- Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
I was originally not going to put this on my TBR, but it seems like such a summery read that I need to read it in August. It follows a girl who spends the summer with her dad and stepmom. There, she meets a fellow insomniac and they spend the nights exploring. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book by this author, so I’m kind of excited since she seems like one of those classic ya writers.
- The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys
Say hello to the oldest book on my physical TBR. Yeah, I’ve had this book since December of 2022 so it’s pretty horrible that I haven’t read it yet, made worse by the fact that I got and read I Must Betray You before picking this one up. This is a historical fiction set during the Spanish Civil War. I like Ruta Sepetys’ books, but I’m not a big historical fiction fan which has kind of deterred me from this one.

I’m hoping to read a lot in August, but some of these books are short so I am hoping to get to all of them (and maybe a few more). I am very excited to see what I think and I’d love to hear your thoughts on any that you’ve read.
xoxo,
