**I sit near the babbling brook and read my book. The light from the sun peaks through the canopy of trees above, warming the water the slightest bit and spotlights the fish swimming in lazy circles. The slight whistle of wind whips through the leaves and they slowly fall to the ground around me as I continue reading my series of adventure and magic.**
I did a series I’m currently reading post last year, but I have actually finished a few since then and started some new ones, so I wanted to update my current series list.

The first series is the Mr.Wrong Number series by Lynn Painter. I read the first in 2023 and still have one more book to read. This is an adult romance series with the first one following Olivia who gets a text from a wrong number who turns out to be her brother’s friend and roommate. I really liked this first one and would like to read the second.
Next up is Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson. I started this series back in 2021 and really liked it. It follows a girl named Stevie who goes to an elite school where she is determined to solve the murders and kidnappings that happened there years ago. I still have to read book 5, Nine Liars, though I have heard that there will be more books added.
Back to Lynn Painter, we have Better Than the Movies. It follows Liz who loves romcoms and is looking for her own romcom worthy story with the help of her neighbor and enemy, Wes. This book had a sequel come out last year that I still need to read.
The next is The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller. I read this first book in 2022 I believe, but still need the read the companion novel. The first follows a girl who wants to seduce the shadow king, marry him, and kill him and take his power for herself. I really liked this one but have been a bit apprehensive going into the sequel.
Next, we have the Alex Stern series by Leigh Bardugo. This follows Alex Stern who is offered a place at Yale to oversee the secret societies since she can see ghosts. I really liked the first two books as well as the characters, so I can’t wait for the third and final book to be announced.
Our next series is A Trial of Sorcerers by Elise Kova. This series is one with trials and elemental magic. I only have one more book left in this five book series and am interested to see how it ends.
The Monsters trilogy by Vanessa Len is another I am currently reading and only have one book left. It follows Joan who comes from a family of monsters. The series has monsters, monster hunters, and unique time traveling mechanics.
I’m sure many people are reading this one, but the Empyrean series by Rebecca Yarros is the next one. It is set at a war college with dragons, and I just love the action. I still have to read Onyx Storm, and can’t wait to see what happens in the rest of the series.
King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo is one that I have kind of been putting off but really need to get to. This is the third series in the Grishaverse following familiar characters on their own story. I thought the first book was just okay, but I do still want to finish the series.
This is one of my newer ones from my last post. In December, I started the Forging Silver Into Stars series by Brigid Kemmerer. This is a sequel/spinoff series from the Cursebreakers series following three different characters and threats against the crown. I recently read the second book and will impatiently wait for the last one in January.
Looking at the series list on Goodreads, I believe I have finished The Inheritance Games, but I am reading The Grandest Game series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I actually just bought the second book so I need to read that and the third one which comes out next year. I love her writing and this whole universe she’s created.
Our final series is the Elemental series by Brigid Kemmerer. This is her first series so I went back to read that and started it this year. I think there are about five books but still need to pick up book 2. It follows a group of brothers with elemental powers.
I am in the middle of a few series, but have been able to finish a few this year so far! I finished the Starflight duology by Melissa Landers, the Click’d duology by Tamara Ireland Stone, the It Happened in Charleston duology by Sarah Adams, the Narnia series by C.S. Lewis, the Fixer duology by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, and the Cruel Prince series by Holly Black. I’m hoping to finish a few others as well this year and look forward to seeing what else I can read.
xoxo,
Just another reader
