**A drip of tea stains the page of my book. I place it back on my shelves for when I finish my drink to prevent more damages. I decide to look at my unread book collection and decide my next few books and consider reading some of the older ones. I move them to the front of my shelves as a reminder and continue my browsing.**
My current physical TBR consists of 22 books, which is actually not too bad considering. However, there are a handful that have been on it for quite some time now, so I wanted to share five of the oldest books on my TBR and why I haven’t read them yet.
- Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
- Alright, starting at #5 we have Little Women. I am not one to really read classics, but I always want to give more a try and this was one that I wanted to read. I think I got this book in 2023 and still haven’t read it, even though I have been very intrigued about it. There are multiple other classics I want to read, but I would love to get to this one first before I get to the others. I love the ’90s movie and really want to see the original source material. But, because of my fear of classics, I have avoided this book and still have not even attempted to pick it up.
- Nine Liars by Maureen Johnson
- Next, we have Nine Liars, the fifth book in the Truly Devious series. I started this series back in 2021, read book 4 in 2022, but haven’t gotten to this one yet. I really loved the series but I think I have spent so much time away from this series that I kind of lost interest. More books are being added in the future as well, so I have a hard time keeping up because of the time in between the books being published. I do hope to read this one and will then decide if I want to continue on.
- The Murder Game by Carrie Doyle
- This was another 2023 book I believe. As many of you know, I don’t read many thrillers anymore so I haven’t been drawn to this one. I think I may give it a try in the coming new year, but if I don’t get to it in 2026, I’ll probably just unhaul it.
- Silver in the Bone by Alexandra Bracken
- Another 2023 acquirement is Silver in the Bone. I wanted to read this one because I really loved The Darkest Minds. I also read Lore and liked the mythology aspects. I wanted to read this one and have read the prologue at some point but I haven’t actually picked it up yet. I’m not sure if I’m going to like it, and it really has prevented me from picking it up because it’s a bit longer as well.
- The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys
- And here we are at the oldest book on my physical TBR. I have had this one since December of 2022. So . . . this has been around for quite a while. I have read all of Ruta Sepetys’ other ya books and have enjoyed them. They are basically the only historical fiction books I read. However, historical fiction is not a genre I really read or enjoy, and this one is so long. I am very intimidated by this one and keep pushing it off. I really need to get to it in 2026 because I refuse to have it on my TBR for much longer!
Mark my words, 2026 will be the year to read these books! They better be at least. Anyway, thank you all for coming, and I’ll see you next week.
xoxo,
Just another reader
