**The sky turns dark. Some drops of rain fall before turning to a full thunderstorm. I sit at the window and rub my hands together to keep warm, the cold from outside trying to come through. Raindrops pitter across the glass and I listen to it’s rhythmic beat. I rest my head against the window and watch the rain fall down.**
I had a lot of reading goals for 2025. I made a book goal bingo for myself, I had 15 books I wanted to read in 2025, and I had a certain amount of books I wanted to read in the year. With so many goals for one year, I wanted to take some time to reflect on them and see which ones I completed and which ones I want to make for 2026.
2025 Goals
Number of Books
Let’s start with our 2025 goals. The first thing I did was set a number of books I wanted to read, which was 50. I actually did complete this. I read exactly 50 books in 2025. This was part of my book goal bingo as well, but I wanted to discuss it separately. I finished my last book pretty close to the end of the month, so I completed this with just enough time left.
15 Books for 2025
My next goal was setting 15 books I wanted to read in 2025. These books were:
❌ The Fountains of Silence – Ruta Sepetys
✅ Betting On You – Lynn Painter
❌ Nine liars – Maureen Johnson
❌ Rule of Wolves – Leigh Bardugo
✅ The Silver Chair – C. S. Lewis
✅ The Grandest Game – Jennifer Lynn Barnes
❌ The Diviners – Libba Bray
❌ The Wizard of OZ – L. Frank Baum
✅ The Match – Sarah Adams
✅ Bridge to Terabithia – Katherine Paterson
✅ Nothing Like the Movies – Lynn Painter
✅ The Party – Natasha Preston
❌ Onyx Storm – Rebecca Yarros
✅ Gradchanted – Morgan Matson
✅ A Tournament of Crowns – Elise Kova
Looking at my list, I read 9/15 books. That’s not too bad considering I usually don’t stick to a TBR. Some of these are on my physical TBR and some were just hopefuls that I would have liked to get from the library. I’m glad that I read as many as I did.
Book Goal Bingo
Finally, we have our book goal bingo. Let’s look at the results:

It took me until the very end of the year, but yes, I did get bingo! I don’t know how I didn’t get bingo any other way with how many spaces I crossed off, but I did finally do it, which I was very happy with. This was just something fun I wanted to try out to challenge myself.
2026 Goals
Going into 2026, I decided that I don’t want to set many goals. I decided to not set a reading goal so I don’t feel pressured to read a certain amount of books. Bingo was fun, but I want 2026 to be the year of just reading anything I want to without the pressure of goals. My only “goal” I’m really making is to read 5 books in genres I don’t normally read from, like nonfiction, classics, and historical fiction. This is just a way to try some new things, but I am leaving it as a very loose goal so I don’t feel like I need to complete it. It will just be there for motivation if I want to try these genres.
I think that about wraps up all of my 2025 and 2026 goals. Let me know of any goals that you completed in 2025, or would like to complete in 2026. Happy reading!
xoxo,
Just another reader
