**People sit on porches and hang their heads out windows to soak in the sun. It’s a warm day, the first in quite a while, and everyone wants to enjoy it. As for me, I sit on the stoop and eat a bowl of ice cream right outside of the ice cream shoppe. A strawberry swirl with pieces of strawberries is my preferences next to a plain vanilla. A woman with a parasol walks by and a man swats a gnat from the air. I prop my book on my knee and eat my ice cream on this warm spring day.**

About a week ago, I decided to do my TBR a bit differently this month. I’ve seen people choose their TBR by numbers and through TBR jars, so why not do a TBR prompt on a spinning wheel? I actually love watching TBR prompt/jar videos since I think it’s interesting to see the prompts and what books get chosen. So today we’re doing that! I decided to do a wheel instead since I wasn’t sure if I’d ever do it this way again and I didn’t want to waste the paper. I’m doing this as I type so it’s a mystery for me as well. So here are the prompts we’re working with:

  • Indie book
  • Read a sequel
  • Someone else chooses
  • First in a series
  • A book that reminds you of a movie/show
  • Book by a favorite author
  • Mystery/Thriller
  • Book published 5+ years ago
  • Book published 2025
  • One word title
  • Favorite color on cover
  • Favorite cover
  • 400+ pages
  • Book with a prologue/epilogue
  • New to me author
  • Newest Book
  • Book with sprayed edges
  • Shortest book
  • School related
  • Character on cover

  • Prompt #1 – Favorite color on cover

My favorite color is purple, and I surprisingly have several books with purple on the cover. My options include Glorious Rivals, Smoke and Scar, A Tempest of Tea, Darkly, and a few others. I think for this prompt I want to go with Smoke and Scar by Gretchen Powell Fox. I just got this a few months ago and it seems like it could be really good. It’s probably the one that is most calling to me right now.

  • Prompt #2 – Book with sprayed edges

I have three that I could use for this prompt: Onyx Storm, Heart Check, and The Familiar. Honestly, I feel like it’s finally time to read Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros. I haven’t been in the mood for it, but I really think I just need to sit down and read it.

  • Prompt #3 – Published 2025

I’m going to partly cheat with this one and go with Children of Fallen Gods by Carissa Broadbent. I just read Daughter of No Worlds recently and want to continue. The self-published version was published in 2021, but it was picked up by Bramble in 2025, so I’m going to count this because I have the new version. Also, I’m kind of regretting my decisions now because I have three big fantasy books and nothing else.

  • Prompt #4 – 400 + pages

I definitely spoke too soon with that last one. Let’s go with Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo. I just started watching Shadow and Bone about two weeks ago, so let’s just keep going with the Grishaverse.

  • Prompt #5 – Favorite cover

I feel like my favorite cover for what’s on my shelf right now is probably Where the Dark Stands Still by A.B. Poranek. This is one I have been pushing off for a while since I don’t know if I’ll like it. But I guess now’s the time!

I do have one or two other books I really want to read in April, like Chasing Evil by John Edward and Robert Hilland. I have this on hold and am really interested in reading it.

Even if I don’t read these books exactly, I would like to at least stick to the prompts as best I can. My mind changes very quick of what I want to read, so we’ll see what happens in April. I’m just hoping I can get a bit more reading done in March first, so we’ll find out in the wrap-up on Monday.

xoxo,
