**Today, I try a new hobby. I have seen some lovely paintings in the shop windows, and try to recreate the brush strokes to form the swirling skies. I push my sleeves farther up my arms and tie my hair back to keep the paint off myself. I paint for an hour, then clean up my things and hang my new painting on the wall.**
Instead of book related content, I thought I could discuss some of my other hobbies to change it up a bit. As readers, we all have other hobbies that we like to do every so often, so today I will take you through some of my other hobbies. A lot of my hobbies aren’t ones that I do very often, just with being busy and choosing to read in my free time, but I will pick it back up every so often to change it up a bit.
- Starting with one of my favorite hobbies, we have writing. I have loved writing for years, even as a kid. I love creating stories, even if they only turn out to be a few pages. I have a lot of ideas for books and would love to get one published one day. I even enjoy the outlining part, trying to figure out my characters and what will happen throughout my story. I think that it is so fun to create an entire world and story just like my favorite authors.
- I also love photography. I usually don’t get an opportunity to pull my digital camera out, but I love it nonetheless. It can be so fun to think of cool photos and be able to see how it comes out. I always want to take some cool pictures for my blog, but I never know what to do for them. I really hope I can think of some cool bookish photos to take.
- I actually picked up a few hobbies during covid as well. One of these was painting. I don’t paint very often, but I do enjoy it. I think that I really just like any creative hobbies honestly. With painting, I think it’s fun to watch it all come together. Sometimes I paint something I found online, and other times I try to think of a unique idea. I actually did a bookish one a year or two ago for one of my favorite books.
- Another of my covid hobbies was sewing. I’m not sewing anything big, but instead would sew little foods and other small things. I had a sewing kit where you could make desserts, so I ended up making a donut and a cookie and a few random things. I haven’t done any of these sewing crafts in quite a while so I may need to pick it up again.
- Another hobby I have gotten into is Legos! I’ve made three so far: Central Perk, a typewriter, and an orchid. I also have a polaroid camera to make as well. I find Legos to be very relaxing and I love putting them together. These can also be good for bookshelf decor. I don’t have mine on my shelves, but would love to display them somewhere.
- Along the same lines as Legos, I love any kits that allow you to put things together. I have a booknook that I made two or three years ago that is on my bookshelf. I also have another one to put together and a little cafe kit to build. I love putting things together and am glad that I found this hobby.
This is a bit of a shorter post today and something a bit different, but I wanted to change it up a bit and discuss some of my hobbies other than reading. Aside from these, I would also love to pick up guitar and crocheting. I have wanted to learn guitar for years now and still haven’t gotten to it. I really hope to take some lessons at some point to finally cross it off my bucket list. I also hope to learn how to crochet. I love looking at little crocheted animals that people have made, and really want to make some for myself. Do you have any fun hobbies other than reading? What are they? I may need to find some more to try out.
xoxo,
Just another reader
