**With nothing else to do, I paint the walls. The warming weather has me wanting change so the walls it is. I take my brush up and down the walls, coating them in a light blue reminiscent of a forget-me-not. As I paint, I think of my March books. Maybe I should paint a scene on the wall of a great battle or a coffee, something to remind me of those books. I shake the thought loose and refocus my attention on the wall.**
Apologies for missing some posts. I got busy towards the beginning of the week then decided to just wait until today to post my wrap-up. I didn’t read too much in March and some of the books were different from my usual reads. Let’s not waste any more time and get right into it!
- The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis
I finally finished the Narnia series! This book unfortunately was not my favorite in the series (though it wasn’t my least favorite either!) We get a lot of familiar characters in this one that was so fun to see. However, the story was not my favorite. I think the idea behind this one fit the themes of the story but not the series itself. It just didn’t do what I hoped it would. The ending is also one I have conflicting feelings on. What do you think? Does it feel different, or is it just me?
- The Flash: Rogues’ Law
This was a very random read for me but I borrowed it from someone and decided to try it out since I don’t read comics. Plus, I love the show The Flash. I think that this comic was interesting and it was fun to read about the rogues, who are a group of criminals with a code of conduct that start working with the police in this issue. Pretty interesting, but I need longer stories, which is the exact reason I don’t read comics.
- Accidentally Amy by Lynn Painter
I actually just bought this book this year since I wanted to read another of Lynn Painter’s adult romances. This was a book originally sent out chapter by chapter in her newsletter, then indie published, then traditionally published. It follows Izzy Shay who is starting a new job but is running late while getting coffee. To make it on time, she takes another person’s drink after the name is called several times and runs into a man in the shop who she strikes up a conversation with after spilling the drink on him. When she gets to work, her new boss is none other than the guy from the coffee shop, which causes some issues about her lying about her name. I enjoyed this book and liked the romance between Izzy and Blake. I also enjoyed the billboard game they play with Izzy’s cousin. However, once I got farther in, it didn’t feel like much was happening and that the romance was the only part of the story. I think the plot needed to be a little stronger in this one, but I did like Lynn Painter’s writing as always. I also did a review on this book, which you can read here.
- S.T.A.R. Labs: Cisco Ramon’s Journal by Nick Aires
I have had this book FOREVER! For a little context, I started watching the CW show The Flash back in 2017, which I believe was right before the show’s fourth season came out. I started watching this and became absolutely hooked! I loved the show and everything about it and I had never felt that way about another show before. I watched until about season 7 then never went back to it. Anyway, I loved the show and got this book as a gift several years ago. It is written as journal entries from the character Cisco Ramon’s perspective and it follows the first two seasons of the show, such as the metas they fight and the superheroes they met. I think this was such a cool book to make. I do wish that the entries were a bit more chronological though and that it didn’t seem to take quotes from the show. However, it was a great refresher for what happened since I recently restarted the first season.
I was sooo determined to finish another book by the end of the month, but ended up finishing it the other day, so that one will be found in my next wrap-up. I hope you all enjoyed your March reads and can’t wait to see what we all find in April.
xoxo,
Just another reader
