**It is a truth universally acknowledged that nothing is better than a good book on a warm day. I flip pages quickly, eager to see where the story goes as I immerse myself in this beautiful world. The honeybees buzz by the flowers and the hummingbirds hurry about. Not a cloud rests in sight and the sun feels warm on my skin. I continue flipping pages faster and faster, reaching the end with a satisfied smile.**
I feel like June is the perfect time to start all of the summer themed books and is a great time to get a start on my summer TBR. I am currently reading Silver in the Bone by Alexandra Bracken, so I hope to finish it either tomorrow or the very beginning of June since I’ve been reading it since mid-April. I’m just happy that I have finally picked it up again to finish. I will leave that one off since I only have about 90 pages left, so other than that one, here are a few books I want on my June TBR.
- Children of Fallen Gods by Carissa Broadbent
Yeah, this one is on the June TBR after being on the May one. I started this towards the end of April then just didn’t feel like reading it so I put it down after about 70 pages. However, I do want to finish this one so I can get to the last book and finish out the series. This is the second in the War of Lost Hearts series. I liked the first but haven’t liked this one as much. However, I’m not very far and I would also like to finish soon so I don’t forget everything. So I NEED to finish this one in June.
- Happy Place by Emily Henry
I started rereading my Emily Henry books in April and want to continue on. I may change the book, but for now I think I want to read Happy Place. This one ranks number four out of the five I have read so far, but I do want to give it another shot. It’s a book about friendship and exes reconnecting. I’m interested to see how my thoughts may have changed because I kind of think I may like it better this time around. Plus, I think this one will be a great book for summer.
- Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez
I have actually never read anything by Abby Jimenez before. I ended up listening to a sample of this one as an audiobook and it seemed good so I picked it up this year and can’t wait to give it a read. This author is extremely popular and I have been very intrigued to see if I’d like her books, so I thought this would be a good starting point for me. This one seems to be the trope of big city girl and small town guy. I honestly don’t know too much about it other than the fact that the sample I listened to caught my interest, so I’m excited to dive into my first Abby Jimenez and see if the hype is worth it.
- Killer Spirit by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Jennifer Lynn Barnes is one of my favorite authors so I have been working my way through her backlist and read the first in this duology, Perfect Cover, last month. I actually bought both at the same time, so why not jump right into the sequel? I won’t say too much since I have to do my wrap-up still, but I do want to get to this one soon. It’s a series following a group of cheerleaders who actually work as secret ops for the government. I think the idea is pretty interesting so I’m intrigued to see where the story will go.
- Drawn Together by Juliana Smith
I have been on the hunt for more indie books and found this one last year. It’s a romance following a children’s book illustrator and a children’s book author and as soon as I saw this, I was sold. I love a good novel where someone has a bookish career. I am actually so excited for this one and really hope to get to it soon.
- The Rise and Ruin of Everwood by Alicia Morgan
This is another indie book I found last year. This one has something to do with Mother Nature and a post-apocalyptic era. I quite honestly don’t even know, but the cover really drew me in on this one. It seems pretty short as well. I have been wanting to do a post about indie/self-published books but always feel like I need to read more before I do. Plus, I have soooo many I want to read, but maybe I can split it into two parts. But this one has been calling to me and I’m excited to read it.
I was actually able to read a decent amount in May, so I really hope this continues in the summer months so I can get to all the summery books I have been excited to read. June, July, and August are going to be great reading months for me since I have so many books I’m excited for. Let’s just hope they reach my expectations.
Happy reading!
xoxo,
