**I take my time browsing through the shelves, my finger gliding against the spines as I walk down the aisle. I linger in the shop for hours, enjoying the new building home to old books previously loved by others. I pull one after another off the shelves and flip through them, reading a few sentences to find one that looks interesting, and start piling a few in my arms. Once I hold almost too many to carry, I walk to the front and listen for the keys of the cash register as they ring through the room. I carry my books out to the sunlight and make my way back home, excited to start reading.**

Something I love doing is a good haul, especially when I get to go to my favorite local used bookstore. I went about two weeks ago and picked up 15 books. Which is by far the most I have ever bought at once, but that’s the great thing about a used bookstore. Between the already low prices, my store credit, and my prizes from bingo which got me a free book and 10% off, I was able to get a lot for a pretty decent price. I’m actually going to split this up into categories, but to prevent this post from being a mile long, let’s jump right in.

Books I’ve Already Read:

• The Wicked Will Rise by Danielle Page

I read this series forever ago. It’s the second book in the Dorothy Must Die series but I only had the last two books. Something I love about used bookstores is that I feel better about buying books I’ve already read because I can add them to my collection without paying full price. This also happened to be an exclusive edition which was cool. No idea where it was from but the dust jacket was reversible to show a map.

• Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco

I absolutely adore this series. I do have the series already but I found the first book in the new cover while I was browsing and figured I’d just pick it up to add to my collection since I love the series so much!

• Only a Monster by Vanessa Len

This is another one that I actually do own already, but the reason I bought it is because it is the Owlcrate edition! I thought this was such a good find and I really liked the edition so I figured I’d grab it since it was so cheap. This series follows a family of monsters who time travel by stealing time from humans.

Books I Have NOT Read

• Batter Up, Charlie Brown!

I LOVED the Peanuts graphic novel I read last year, which was the Beaglescout one. It ended up being one of my favorite books of the year, so when I saw this one I decided to get it. I usually am not a huge graphic novel fan but I loved that one so I’m excited to try this one out.

• Horrid by Katrina Leno

This was actually another Owlcrate book! I had seen this book a few years ago and it seemed interesting but I never got around to it. Now that I saw it at the used bookstore though I decided to finally pick it up to give it a try. This is a YA horror, and I think it has some haunted house elements if I remember correctly, though I haven’t looked much into it.

• The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson

When I say The Remnant Chronicles, yes, I did find the entire trilogy. I have wanted to read this for several years now and it’s just one of those ones that I never got around to. A bit risky to buy the whole series, but they were really cheap so I figured it was worth it. Someone was definitely clearing out their shelves because I saw the entire Shadow and Bone trilogy there as well.

• The Lovely and the Lost by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

It’s so crazy that I found this because I NEVER see a Jennifer Lynn Barnes book in that bookstore and I was just thinking pretty recently that I think my next book by her outside of The Inheritance Games series would be this one, so I was very happy to see this there. I’m trying to make it through her entire backlist so I’m excited to give this a try.

• Pillow Thoughts by Courtney Peppernell

I am not a poetry reader, but I always like to try genres I don’t normally read from. The only ones I can think of that I have read were an Emily Dickinson collection which I did enjoy, and Watering the Soul, which was another Courtney Peppernell collection. I actually really liked that one and there were a lot of poems or specific lines that really stood out, so when I saw this one, I decided to pick it up to give it a try.

• Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams

Finally from this category, we have Practice Makes Perfect, which is actually my current read. It’s the second book in the Rome, Kentucky series which I just started this summer. I originally was hoping to get all of Sarah Adams’s books new, but this copy actually looked brand new so I knew I had to get it.

Gifts

Okay, so I saw a few books that I wanted to recommend to a family member, so we picked up The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson, Stay Sweet by Siobhan Vivian, and P.S. I Like You by Kasie West. I also got Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer for a friend since she is a huge fan of her books as well, and the reason I actually read the Cursebreakers series, so I wanted to pick it up for her.

I did buy two stickers while I was there as well! I got a dragon and a duck with a sword. I saw the two of them and knew I had to buy them. They’re currently displayed standing up on my bookshelf until I figure out where to place them.

I love a good book haul because I enjoy seeing what people were interested in buying (though honestly I love a good unhaul better), but a used book haul is something I love to post on my own blog because I like to share my finds that I got at a great price. Nothing is better than a huge book haul for a good deal.
